The ILC Trails program has offices in Homer and Seward and we provide a variety of opportunities for people to get out and to recreate.  We offer short events such as crafts and walks and Tai Chi, and we offer adventure trips called One Hit Wonders (OHW).  Recent OHW trips have been a railroad adventure across the Alaska interior, Horse camp in Cooper landing and there are more coming up this summer.    See the "Point of View" editorial in the Homer News by Homer TRAILS coordinator Tela Bacher.  Homer News "Point of View"

The SILC, Statewide Independent Living Council, is meeting and The focus of the meeting will be the development of a new independent living state plan and they would like to hear from you!  What works? What isn’t working? All comments are appreciated and can include issues related to transportation, employment, housing, or other areas of concern.

Alaska Interagency Transition Council Newsletter

News from the Alaska Interagency Transition Council

The Alaska Interagency Transition Council (AITC) has been working with the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) to sup-port the work the council does to promote sharing of resources and in-formation around secondary transition services for students with disabili-ties. NTACT is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and the Rehabilitation Services Ad-ministration (RSA). Go to NTACT’s website https://transitionta.org to download evidence-based practices to improve outcomes of students with disabilities including lesson plans to toolkits full of resources for your students. You can sign up for a weekly eBlast that shares resources and webinars in which you can participate. To sign up for eBlast, scroll to the bottom of the first page of NTACT’s webpage and click on the link under “Keep in Touch”. NTACT looks forward to Alaska teachers and VR counselors accessing these products!
