It takes a lot of people working together to affect change. MAPP of the Southern Kenai Peninsula (SKP) is a community coalition that came together in November 2008 to develop and support a long-term vision of community well-being.
Special Olympics Alaska provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The South Peninsula Hospital Health and Wellness program has put together a listing of support groups that meet in the Homer area. This current listing was updated Jan. 2020:
If you are concerned about the safety of a vulnerable person you can report your concern to the Alaska Senior and Disabilities Services Centralized Reporting Unit. These reports go to the appropriate state agency or agencies to investigate.
