About The (ILC)
Independent Living CenterWe’ve been providing services to seniors and people and families living with disabilities since 1991. Our mission is to ensure that you have a full understanding of your rights, your responsibilities, your options and have the freedom to make your own choices. You can be assured all services ILC offers are confidential, consumer directed, individually tailored, and wide-ranging. Disability and age should not limit your choice or freedom.
Who We AreThe Independent Living Center covers the Kenai Peninsula, Valdez/Cordova Census area communities and Kodiak Island. We are an Aging and Disability Resource Center promoting choice, independence, and quality of life for persons and families living with disability.
“Independent Living is a philosophy and a movement of people with disabilities who work for self-determination, equal opportunities and self-respect. Independent Living does not mean that we want to do everything by ourselves and do not need anybody or that we want to live in isolation."
If you are concerned about the safety of a vulnerable person you can report your concern to the Alaska Senior and Disabilities Services Centralized Reporting Unit. These reports go to the appropriate state agency or agencies to investigate. These include Adult Protective Services, The Long Term Care Ombudsman, Occupational Licensing and the Office of Children's Services. Click on the link below for
