2023 One Hit Wonders (OHW)

The Summer One Hit Wonders calendar is out and were looking forward to all the adventures planned. If your interested in any activities please call or email soon as some activities have limited participation. As a reminder for some, the only way to reserve your spot is with some form of payment. Make note of registration deadlines and that we have a 48 hour reimbursement policy in case you are not able to attend. Call to ask about scholarship eligibility if you need help to attend.

Come in to the office for a printed copy or for help explaining any of our activities planned.

TRAILS Blazers Steps Up Group Walk @ ILC Office on Every wednesday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM

Join Homer's Independent Living Center inclusive team, The ILC TRAILS Blazers! Count steps walking on your own or with TRAILS. Walk with new and old friends, learn more about IL and improving accessibility in Homer. Sign up and join ILC's team at the link below.

Free Artability Group @ Homer Art & Frame co. on Fridays from 11:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Join us at the Homer Art and Frame, where we will create art together (4001 Lake St #3)  

This is a group lead activity, which means you have a say in what we do. Do you have a special skill you'd like to share with others? Would you like some guidance with watercolors and perspective? Have zero experience with a paintbrush but would like to try something new? This is the place for you. We can offer all levels of support.

Projects and mediums will change monthly.

TRAILS Community Ride the Spit @ The Homer Spit ON Tuesday the 23rd From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

To celebrate Bike Month, why don't you join TRAILS on the spit trail for a group bike ride. Bring your bike!! Don't have one? Did you know that Cyclogical has bike for rent right on the spit? We can assist getting you some wheels. Options to start at Mariner', the Fishing Hole or Land's End.

Fun & Healthy Community Events


Governor Mike Dunleavy has proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

1 in 25 adults today live with a variety of mental health disorders, illnesses and a growing number of other debilitating behavioral health conditions that affect an individuals' functions with their environment and how they handle societal relationships.

"We encourage all Alaskans to recognize those affected by mental health issues and the important role that support, acceptance and mental health services play in enriching our lives."

The Sandhill Cranes are winging their way North. Watch for the first arrivals in the next few weeks and let Kachemak Crane Watch know when, where, and how many you see!

Annual  Safe & Healthy Kids Fair @ Homer High Parking lot ON Saturday the 6th From 11:00 aM to 2:30 PM

Rain or shine, this event will be held in the parking lot of Homer High School. It’s a free, Family friendly one day event that is sure to bring loads of entertainment!! Participants can expect:

  • A bike rodeo (with chances to win a bike!!)
  • Food (the grill will be fired up!)
  • Over 25 vendors
  • Free car seat checks!
  • Helmets for purchase at a steep discount!
  • Freebies, giveaways, and prizes!
  • The infamous “Teddy Bear Clinic”

This Memorial Day ColdwaterAK offers FREE rides for Veterans, Servicemen, Healthcare Workers, and their kids to go across the bay. Spots are filling up fast so please call soon! Hikes, beach walks, or camping we can take you there and pick you up!

Free Zumba Gold @ Homer Senior Center on Mondays from 10:00 am

The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.

Partner Dance Class @ Homer High Green Room on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm FOR $10

Join us for a friendly social dance class where we'll explore partnering fundamentals together. Whether you come alone or with a partner, you're welcome to be part of the group. Each month, we'll focus on one dance style for four weeks, starting with American Style Tango, and introducing new figures and steps every week.

Participants +7th grade and $10 per class.

Strong Seniors Fitness Class @ Homer Senior Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 11:00 Am to 12:00 pm

Join instructor Evelyn Harden for Strong Seniors, "a slow-motion weight lifting and stretching class that promotes strength and mobility training."

Free Community Yoga @ SPARC on Wednesdays
from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

South Peninsula Hospital offers free community yoga. Join a different instructor from Dharmic Spruce for a free hour of yoga at SPARC on Sterling Highway near the middle school. Each instructor will bring a unique experience and class tailored to their teaching style. You’re guaranteed to leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated. All ages and abilities are welcome!

Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one (we will have extras), a water bottle, and some extra layers.

Homer Steps up 2023 Registation

Registration for Homer Steps Up. 7th Annual Free Community Walking Challenge. Who wants to join our team this year? We discussed this idea at our last planning meeting as a way to advocate for great accessibility in our community!!!! Let's get active together!!!
